3ce87-excerpt
This isn’t how I expected death to be. I imagined it cold, dark, and lonely. This is nothing of that sort. It is warm and light. I feel everything except alone. I feel brave and strong. And loved. The only pain I feel is seeing the one I love so much hurting right now. I did what I came here to do, and now it’s over. I was chosen. Chosen to make a choice. A choice to live and a choice to die. I chose death, and dying in the arms of the man I love is peaceful. If my own life must be given in place of the lives of others, then I shall give it away.
I’ll leave a memory with everyone I’ve touched. I will remember all the time we spent together. My only hope is that his memory of me is as beautiful as my memory of him. I struggle to open my eyes, knowing what I see will shatter the dream that I want to remember when I die. Slowly I flutter my eyelids, seeing nothing except a blur through tears and blood. Focusing, I see my medallion, dangling empty of the fire it once held around my neck. It now drips crimson droplets, staining the ground on which I lie. I cringe and curl my fingers around the ancient chain, accepting it for what it is. I am gone, and with my life, the fire goes out.
“Chloe, can you hear me? Chloe. Chloe! Come on, baby, open your eyes, please. Please, open your eyes. You can’t go yet. I have so much to tell you. Come on, Chloe, please wake up. God, there is so much blood. This is all my fault. I am so sorry, baby. I’m here, Chloe. I won’t let you go; I won’t do it. I will trade places with you, my love.”
His voice is the sound of an angel, my angel. He is my reason for living. He gave me hope in my lonely, obsolete world, hope that I could fall in love and that someone could love me back no matter our differences or how absolutely normal I am … was.
I can hear him and want so badly to answer him. I want to call his name. To tell him I am here. It will be okay. Painfully, though, I can’t. Instead, I drift farther and farther away, dreaming about the time we had together, reminiscing about the not so long ago memories of falling in love with not just him, but with five other of my dearest and closest friends.
It is almost unbelievable … Hell, it is unbelievable that just a few weeks ago, I was just me. Plain, average, old-souled me. Now here I am, after finding out that I’m descended from a powerful bloodline said to be undefeatable, lying on the ground, defeated, while my soul drifts toward the light of death. Content as I am, with a smile on my face, I say good-bye.
You never know where life is going to take you. I know now what I was brought into this world to do. What I was created for. What I was chosen for.

The Vows We Make Book 4 of The Six Series Mark and Paige's story.
Some vows can be deadly..... winters-kiss Mark and Paige are living in sin—that's what any man of the cloth would say. All they want is to get married, but they refuse to exchange vows without their best friends—the Six. As they wait to hear back from them, Mark and Paige can't help but feel they've been put off… forgotten. When the threat of an enemy stalking them is brought to light, the call is made to bring them into the secretive world of Cole Enterprise. Slotted for recruitment by the very agency that stole their chance at a normal life, Mark and Paige have to adjust to their new path as secret agents in a war they didn’t even know existed. What neither fully understands is that nothing will ever be the same… and some vows are deadlier than others. winters-kiss-eb excerpt-image CHANGE WAS ALL AROUND ME. Everything was different. My life. My dreams. All of it. Maybe some of it was for the best. Maybe it would push Mark and me to make more of ourselves than we would have on our own. Crossing my arms tightly, I stepped out onto the dock and made my way to where Mark stood looking out over the water. Coming back to the cabin and being around our friends after such a long absence from both had enveloped us in something like a constrictive hug. Both needing it, while desperately trying to come to terms with it. “Hey,” I said, stepping up beside him and sighing when he pulled me into his arms. I leaned back, turning my head slightly to fit into the crook of his neck. His cheek brushed against my hair and he asked, “Can you believe this place?” I snorted. “No. But then again, we are talking about Jared’s parents, so…” “True. It still feels the same here though,” he answered, watching the water ripple along the surface with the wind. Arriving at the cabin, or what used to be the cabin, had sort of floored us all. No one knew what to say when we’d got our first glimpse of the new and improved place. What used to be one story with a kitchen, living room, and six bedrooms with bathrooms was gone. Its replacement was two stories, ten bedrooms with full bathrooms, a massive open-floor kitchen/living room, a movie theater room, and a game room. Grant and Nadia had gone all out to make the cabin a place where all of us could live together, for an unforeseeable amount of time. “It’s like they just knew…” I said, leaving the rest of what I was thinking unsaid. It wouldn’t do any good to dwell on the things none of us could change. “How are you holding up with all of this?” Mark asked. I sighed deeply and closed my eyes. “Honestly? I don’t know how to feel right now. It’s like this huge war being waged right here,” I said, poking my finger against my chest. “I’m happy to see everyone. We’re here together—just like we wanted—but for all the wrong reasons. I’m missing classes and work. I don’t know what to do with myself. My life is literally on hold at this point.” He hugged me tighter. “Tell me what you want me to do and I’ll do it. If you want to leave, we’ll go. They can’t hold us here.” I snorted. “Can you imagine the look on all of their faces if we just walked out with our suitcases behind us? No. I love you for that though. It’s nice to hear you’d do that to make me happy.” He kissed the top of my head. “I’d do anything to make you happy, Paige.” Wedding rings, engraved

My Review:

Fraud (Frenzy, #5)Fraud by Casey L. Bond
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Author Casey Bond turned me inside out with this book. Just when I thought I knew where the characters were heading, she threw in a twist that disentigrated my world. I consumed this book in hours as my desire for more enticed me to fly through the pages. Each new revealtion pushing me forward for just one more chapter.

My love for these characters flourished as their true colors came shining through during their most difficult decisions. The love and courage they showed is a testiment to the great character building the author has done. It felt like these characters were a part of me and I experienced every painful situation they were forced to endure. My heart shattered only to be mended lovingly back together by the brave and selfless characters. Wow, just wow!

"I'd finally found a reason to live, and even if it was only for the length of her lifetime, I would spend it with her."

I have loved this series from the beginning and book 5 was bittersweet for me. I wasn't ready to say goodbye to Porshia, Tage, Saul, Mercedes and even Roman (LOL), but I also know that there must always be an ending. The author did an excellent job and I look forward to seeing what journey she will take me on next.

When everything goes wrong, who will be left to pick up the pieces and save Ford from a threat no one could have seen coming?
What will happen when they risk everything to save one?
Review:
Friction begins right where Frequency left off. Porschia, Tage, Mercedes, Roman and Saul head out to share the news of a cure with the other colonies. Sounds simple, right? Well let me tell you things couldn't go more crazy and wrong. Author Casey Bond had me revelling in the insanity of Porschia's wrath and the depths at which these characters will go to protect each other. Magnificent!!!

Of course Tage is as sexy and naughty as ever and I seriously cannot live without him. "My God, that sight would never get old. He was strong, virile, and bloody, and he smelled so good." Ahh! (*clears throat)

It's so exciting to watch as each of our main characters continue to grow and change. That's one of the things that really pulled me to this series to begin with and I am overjoyed that they each continue to evolve. Especially Porschia who has to learn to live with being incurable, and not fully a zombie or night-walker. She fights with the rage, hunger and knowledge that she will never be human again. Her strength and courage is the backbone to this series! Roman quotes Shakespeare and I think it describes her perfectly, "Though she be but little, she is fierce."

This series just keeps getting more exciting and just darn amazing! I can't say enough good things about Friction and the Frenzy Series. Grab a copy, sit back and be ready to go into a reading "frenzy".

1986: Why Can't This Be Love By R.K. Ryals

Title: Why Can't This Be Love?
Author: R.K. Ryals
Genre: New Adult
Release Date: July 29, 2016
Cover Designer: Regina Wamba

Synopsis:
Spring break her junior year is supposed to be Tori Allen's chance to catch the eye of wicked hot Corey Sanders, the bouncer at The Cube, an eighteen and under club.

Only what should have been a night to remember turns into a grody tryst that chases her into the arms of inner city boy, Dylan Black.

A malfunctioning photo booth, a crazy game of midnight madness bowling, and suddenly her memorable night becomes one totally rad adventure.

My Review:

In March of 1986 I was 15 years old, lived in Ohio and I remember when MTV was every teenagers life. I Played cassette tapes and made my favorite mix tapes to replay over and over. This novella felt like it was written about my life and brought back the feelings I felt during the cold war and when the Shuttle Challenger crashed. The authors descriptions of clothing, 80's lingo, and lyrics from songs I had grown up listening to, really brought this book to life. "Music made images and life stronger, adding an extra dimension of emotion to everything."

The saying, never judge a book by it's cover, rang true for Tori. She would find out the most awesome guy at the club, who she had been crushing on for months, was not at all what he seemed. Her dream of being swept off her feet by the handsome Corey Sanders turned into a nightmare. If it hadn't been for the knight in an ACDC tshirt, things could have ended very badly.
"The tingles and flutters I'd felt in the club returned with a vengance, but this time, they felt different. Uneasy." "He was the kind of guy, the kind no girl wanted to find herself alone with."

Dylan Black (swoon) reminds me of some of the guys I went to high school with. Heavy metal, concert shirts and bad boy vibes rolling off of him. What I loved most about Dylan is that you would never guess him to be chivalrous and kind hearted if you were only going off of looks. Author R.K. Ryals always has characters with many layers that really touch my soul. Watching Tori and Dylan spending the evening together was magic to behold. I could feel butterflies in my tummy as they revealed more about themselves to each other. "I guess that's how you know someone means something to you. They make you see the world in colors beyond the standard black and white."

1986: Why Can't This Be Love is a great coming of age book written beautifully by author R.K. Ryals. It was a joy to read and as always I came away with something special. It brought back some amazing memories from my youth and also I think this quote sums up the feeling of the book quite well.
"It was March of 1986 in a small town in Ohio after a crazy weekend that changed who I thought I was, the people I thought I knew, and the kind of person I wanted to be."       Most Excellent!!
