The Desiccated by @nj_ember

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!

The Desiccated - Part 1The Desiccated - Part 1 by N.J. Ember
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This little beauty has the WOW factor! OMG did I fly through this book and of course now I'm begging for more. It was such a neat story full of originality and characters full of heart. Although there was one particular character I wanted to cause physical harm to by scratching his evil eyes out. The author's ability to make you feel a part of this world she has created, makes it such a rush to read. The depth and intensity of the storyline allowed me to connect within the first chapter, which I just loved!

The Desiccated has everything and more that I want to read in a paranormal/science fiction book. Mystery, action and creepy twists. I cannot wait to see where the author takes the rest of the series.

MY REVIEW:
Author Casey Bond turned me inside out with this book. Just when I thought I knew where the characters were heading, she threw in a twist that disentigrated my world. I consumed this book in hours as my desire for more enticed me to fly through the pages. Each new revealtion pushing me forward for just one more chapter.

My love for these characters flourished as their true colors came shining through during their most difficult decisions. The love and courage they showed is a testiment to the great character building the author has done. It felt like these characters were a part of me and I experienced every painful situation they were forced to endure. My heart shattered only to be mended lovingly back together by the brave and selfless characters. Wow, just wow!

"I'd finally found a reason to live, and even if it was only for the length of her lifetime, I would spend it with her."

I have loved this series from the beginning and book 5 was bittersweet for me. I wasn't ready to say goodbye to Porshia, Tage, Saul, Mercedes and even Roman (LOL), but I also know that there must always be an ending. The author did an excellent job and I look forward to seeing what journey she will take me on next.

Friction Blog Tour & Review

Title: Friction (Frenzy, #4)
Author: Casey L. Bond
Genre: YA Paranormal
Cover Designer: Cover Me Darling
Model: Daniel Wells
Cover Photography: Cassy Roop of Pink Ink Designs
Hosted by: Lady Amber’s PR
Blurb: A cure has been found for both the Infection and Vampirism, and Porschia Grant must take this news out of the colony. Between her friends volunteering to go with her and a well-planned route, the first journey should be easy. But when they make it to Mountainside, things are strange. The people are frightened of female night-walkers and won’t say why.
When the excursion takes a wrong turn, Porschia’s friends make a decision that will impact the rest of their lives. They expect to save Porschia from the evil contained in The Manor; they don’t expect to have to save her from herself.
When everything goes wrong, who will be left to pick up the pieces and save Ford from a threat no one could have seen coming?
What will happen when they risk everything to save one?

Review:
Friction begins right where Frequency left off. Porschia, Tage, Mercedes, Roman and Saul head out to share the news of a cure with the other colonies. Sounds simple, right? Well let me tell you things couldn't go more crazy and wrong. Author Casey Bond had me revelling in the insanity of Porschia's wrath and the depths at which these characters will go to protect each other. Magnificent!!!

Of course Tage is as sexy and naughty as ever and I seriously cannot live without him. "My God, that sight would never get old. He was strong, virile, and bloody, and he smelled so good." Ahh! (*clears throat)

It's so exciting to watch as each of our main characters continue to grow and change. That's one of the things that really pulled me to this series to begin with and I am overjoyed that they each continue to evolve. Especially Porschia who has to learn to live with being incurable, and not fully a zombie or night-walker. She fights with the rage, hunger and knowledge that she will never be human again. Her strength and courage is the backbone to this series! Roman quotes Shakespeare and I think it describes her perfectly, "Though she be but little, she is fierce."

This series just keeps getting more exciting and just darn amazing! I can't say enough good things about Friction and the Frenzy Series. Grab a copy, sit back and be ready to go into a reading "frenzy".

1986: Why Can't This Be Love By R.K. Ryals

Title: Why Can't This Be Love?
Author: R.K. Ryals
Genre: New Adult
Release Date: July 29, 2016
Cover Designer: Regina Wamba
Purchase links:

Synopsis:
Spring break her junior year is supposed to be Tori Allen's chance to catch the eye of wicked hot Corey Sanders, the bouncer at The Cube, an eighteen and under club.

Only what should have been a night to remember turns into a grody tryst that chases her into the arms of inner city boy, Dylan Black.

A malfunctioning photo booth, a crazy game of midnight madness bowling, and suddenly her memorable night becomes one totally rad adventure.

My Review:

In March of 1986 I was 15 years old, lived in Ohio and I remember when MTV was every teenagers life. I Played cassette tapes and made my favorite mix tapes to replay over and over. This novella felt like it was written about my life and brought back the feelings I felt during the cold war and when the Shuttle Challenger crashed. The authors descriptions of clothing, 80's lingo, and lyrics from songs I had grown up listening to, really brought this book to life. "Music made images and life stronger, adding an extra dimension of emotion to everything."

The saying, never judge a book by it's cover, rang true for Tori. She would find out the most awesome guy at the club, who she had been crushing on for months, was not at all what he seemed. Her dream of being swept off her feet by the handsome Corey Sanders turned into a nightmare. If it hadn't been for the knight in an ACDC tshirt, things could have ended very badly.
"The tingles and flutters I'd felt in the club returned with a vengance, but this time, they felt different. Uneasy." "He was the kind of guy, the kind no girl wanted to find herself alone with."

Dylan Black (swoon) reminds me of some of the guys I went to high school with. Heavy metal, concert shirts and bad boy vibes rolling off of him. What I loved most about Dylan is that you would never guess him to be chivalrous and kind hearted if you were only going off of looks. Author R.K. Ryals always has characters with many layers that really touch my soul. Watching Tori and Dylan spending the evening together was magic to behold. I could feel butterflies in my tummy as they revealed more about themselves to each other. "I guess that's how you know someone means something to you. They make you see the world in colors beyond the standard black and white."

1986: Why Can't This Be Love is a great coming of age book written beautifully by author R.K. Ryals. It was a joy to read and as always I came away with something special. It brought back some amazing memories from my youth and also I think this quote sums up the feeling of the book quite well.
"It was March of 1986 in a small town in Ohio after a crazy weekend that changed who I thought I was, the people I thought I knew, and the kind of person I wanted to be."       Most Excellent!!

Drops of Sunshine Blog Tour and Review

With a job as a camp counselor, sixteen-year-old Nina heads to the wilderness for summer break. With her year all she wants is an escape. But some special kids can hear her thoughts and she can't hide her head in the sand like she planned. Can Nina come to terms with all her swirling emotions? Sometimes all it takes is a drop of sunshine!

Drops of Sunshine by author Tricia Copeland moved me. Nina went away to work at a camp that cares for special needs children. She thought this would help her to get away from her problems and the heartache she was experiencing. Pretty normal story, but the beauty of it is that these "special" children were gifted in a way that was unexpected and gave me chills. They could see and feel the emotions and struggles that Nina had been trying to hide. From the quiet Lily who called her by her childhood nickname to the brother of one of the counselors that could see the visions of her fear. I was just mesmerized by the authors ability to draw me in and raise the hairs on the back of my neck. Extraordinary!

Tricia Copeland grew up in Georgia and now lives in Colorado with her husband, three kids, and multiple four legged and finned friends. Drops of Sunshine is her first young adult and paranormal work. First published in Spellbound, a YA paranormal novella collection, it has already received great reviews. Tricia’s clean new adult Being Me series includes the titles Is This Me?, If I Could Fly, and Think You Know Me. The series finale is due out September 2016. If not on the trail, you can find Tricia at triciacopeland.com or on many social media channels.
