The Kingdom Chronicles: By The Sword Interview and Giveaway

Welcome author BC Morin!  Author of The Kingdom Chronicles Series that I love.  I am so very ecited to bring you good vs evil interviews.  We will get a chance to get to know Evyette better and find out what makes evil Samil tick.  Well without any further delay I would like to introduce you to our first guest.

1. What is your name?
Evyette Victoria Graulbairn
2.Do you have any scars, tattoos, piercings? What do they mean to you?
The marks that I was born with are important to me, as they were bestowed unto me by my creator. The scar that means the most is very faint now and is nothing more than a faint line, but it was when I was almost killed after finding my sister. That was when they discovered that I was being hunted by the Venator Animus. All of that resulted in the unfolding of my past.
3.What is your preferred style of clothing to wear?
I used to love my corsets and long skirts, but I've grown quite partial to my training gear.
4. What is your current job title / social station / rank?
I am, along with my sister, A Princess of Meira.
5.Who is your best friend? Describe them briefly.
I would say my sister. She has always been by my side. Even after we found out who my birth father was, she never turned from me, or looked at me differently.
6.What is your most cherished possession?
I still have the blanket that I was wrapped in when I was left in Meira by Dara.
7.What do you dislike most about your life? What is missing?
*sighs heavily* I crave stability at the moment. There are many things that have happened in this past year. Just when I have thought that things are about to get better, I am faced with yet another trial or tragedy.
8.What would you like your life to look like in twenty years?
I would prefer to be with someone who loves me and perhaps having had a little one of my own.
9.What is the driving force / motivation in your life?
My family and my friends. I would do anything for them.
10.What belief / person / institution would you die to defend?
I would die for my family and for friends that I have come to love as my family. Though, I would have to say also, that I am willing to die to save my people. The evil that is rising up against us, is monumental in strength and I am doing what I can to stop it.
11.Who has hurt you the worst in your life, and how?
My father. Not just for me, but for my mother. If he would have just given himself a chance, he could have seen that his status meant nothing, and things could have been vastly different.
12.Have you forgiven them? Could you ever?
I have. I understand why he did what he did. And despite the thought that he had no heart. He proved to have one larger than most.
13.What was your first impression of Tristan?
That he was as you humans would say : a "goofball?" Is that right? A jokester.
14.How accurate was this first impression?
I believe another human term would be "Dead-on". *sits up proudly* I am enjoying these terms.
15.When in your life did you feel the most helpless?
When two people died to save me and I was trapped in Samil's spell. I could do nothing but watch them die. It is something I fight with every day.
Thank you Evyette for taking the time to talk with us.
Now let me introduce you to the EVIL side of my interview.  I try not to judge, but actions speak louder than words.  I will let you judge for yourselves.
1.What is your name?
Why do you ask such a question? Surely you have heard of the most notorious fae ever to have been born, Samil.
Hmm, okay.

2.Do you have any scars, tattoos, piercings? What do they mean to you?
I have the marks I was born with, though my most prized is my sorcery mark. Through it I have developed skills far beyond sorcery.
3.Who has been your greatest influence (parent, friend, idol)? Why?
Myself. I have needed and will never need anyone.
4.What is your current job title / social station / rank?
Soon, I will be Ruler of the 5 Kingdoms.
5.What is your ultimate professional or life goal?
Have I not just told you that? You humans are so simple.
Sorry, I guess I will move on then.

6.Who is your biggest rival / enemy? Describe them briefly.
No one can rival me, though the fae have wronged me and need to pay for their actions.
They have never done anything to you, though.
WRONG ! It is that, exactly! They did nothing! Nothing to help the imprisoned fae that birthed me. Nothing to claim her or me into one of their Kingdoms. Clearly, they need to be killed, or ruled. I will leave it to them.
7.Do you have strong political leanings or affiliations?
Only for myself.
8.Do you have any irrational fears / phobias?
I have no fears. It is the Fae people and other creatures that fear me.
9.What is your most cherished possession?
Cherished possessions are for the weak. They create attachments to objects and loved ones and it becomes their downfall.
10.What is the driving force / motivation in your life?
Again, Myself. The fae people need to recognize the impressive and imposing force of my power.
11.How would you define ‘power’?
Complete and total rule and domination.
12.Do you consider yourself a moral / ethical person?
I care not for morality or ethics. I care only for what I desire.
13.What belief / person / institution would you die to defend?
Only my rightful place to rule.
14.Who have you hurt the worst? And How?
*Narrows eyes at interviewer.* I will only say again, that creating attachments to loved ones become downfalls. Therefore, I never created an attachment to someone who had one for me. *clears throat* Well, at least not as strong as her attachment.
(I think I may have found a small piece of "humanity" in there.)

15. My last question for you is, do you consider yourself to be evil?
I am not evil. I perceive Evil as nothing more than a term that the fae use for things that do not meet their moral or ethical views.
Um, yeah, so Evil.
*raises eyebrow at interviewer and leans in* Evil, lacking in morals, *makes air quotes* bad man. Call me what you wish, it matters not to me. The opinions of a human mean even less to me than the opinions of the fae. *stands abruptly and leaves*
Okay, well now you have met Samil for yourselves.  Evil?  I know he gives me the creeps.
Let me introduce to you the books that I have loved since the first time I opened them.
Mark of the Princess (Book 1 The Kingdom Chronicles)
The feisty and determined Princess Alannah is many things, but she never thought she would be the key to her people’s destruction.

Kidnapped for a power she does not yet possess, Alannah finds herself in the clutches of the most malevolent sorcerer of her time. Maligo. Alannah escapes her prison with help from the handsome and stalwart warrior faerie, Brennus.

Now she must cross mountains and forests fraught with rogue faeries, vicious trolls, dangerous shape-shifters, and more to reach the only ones that can help her control her incoming powers. The Elders.

With Brennus by her side, Alannah is determined to reach the Elder Fae and save her people. Maligo is just as determined she never makes it that far.
Blood of the Sorcerer (Book 2 The Kingdom Chronicles)
Love will be tested, great powers will emerge, secrets will be revealed, and hearts will break over a death no one saw coming….

Princess Alannah hoped that upon her arrival in Anrad, things would begin to look up. But she comes to find that the warrior fae that she has fallen in love with is truly the Prince of Anrad and has been betrothed to another by his dying father. Isibeal, his betrothed, is beautiful, strong, and hiding a secret that Alannah is determined to reveal.

Adding to her worries, her sister Evyette has set off on a journey to uncover her increasingly mysterious past. Finally discovering who she is and where she came from, Evyette will find that some things are better left unknown. As Tristan and Kaleb help Eveytte through this discovery, she is yanked from their clutches by Samil who has volunteered her as the final sacrifice for him to remain in this realm.

Will Alannah succeed in her training at the hands of Master Jadoc, the Elder Faerie and still make it in time to join Tristan and Kaleb in stopping Samil? Will Brennus go against his dying father's last request and follow his heart?

Life isn’t alway fair for a superhero, but at least she doesn’t have to do it alone. With her brother and sister as sidekicks, they alternate between saving lives and getting on each others’ nerves. Together the trio encounters unspeakable odds, mystical forces and comes face-to-face with an image that will haunt them forever—their grandmother in a leopard print bikini.

"Okay, little side note here. If a psychopathic killer asks if you want to see a trick, say no. That’s the smart thing to do. I, on the other hand, responded, 'Bring it'."

That is, until a dear friend is harmed by the malicious forces hunting her.

Now, she’d like nothing more than to retreat into a hermit lifestyle to prevent anyone else from getting hurt. Soon, Celeste finds herself surrounded by darkness and wondering who she can trust—if anyone.

Soon a terrible new threat, unlike anything she’s ever encountered, causes her to make a gut-wrenching choice that will strip her of someone she holds dear.

As much as she’d like to have a pity party for one, there’s no time for that now because wedding bells are ringing in Gainesboro! In between dress fittings and rehearsal dinners Celeste will have to fend off attacking demons and leering pirates. As if the Dark Army wasn’t scary enough our heroine is faced with the horrifying trauma of attending a bachelorette party with her mom and watching Grams do Jello shots. Is a walk down the aisle even possible for a member of the Garrett family when the Dark Army is out to destroy them? More importantly, will the Dark Army Glee Club sing at the reception?

Raise your glass to the happy couple, and get ready for a wedding…Conduit-style.

Book Blitz: Midnight Rider's Pete Clark

Title: Midnight Rider's Author: Pete Clark Genre: “Historical Chaos” – Speculative Paranormal Historical Fiction with Humor Contains strong language Publisher: J. Ellington Ashton Press Blitz Host: Lady Amber's Tours Blurb: “Gather ‘round people and you shall hear about a bunch of bullshit that is clear. Of riders and horses and monsters too; your parents lied - they can still get you. Hardly anyone who was there is alive to dispel the rumor, uncover the lies, but there was more than one man who rode that day and more than just Redcoats who got in their way.” Along the way, Longfellow lost something in his translation it seems. Everyone has heard of the French and Indian War and the American Revolution. However, they have not heard about them this way! The American founding fathers had a lot more to deal with at the end of the 18th century than tariffs and tea; avoiding hurled trees from Wendigos and gargoyles falling from the sky took a lot of patience. How is Samuel Prescott supposed to hunt the leader of the Rippers when the British keep infringing upon the colonists’ rights? Excerpt: Boone was sure he heard Revere scream as the zombie Forbes charged at them. On his way, Forbes took a nice hearty bite out of an off duty soldier who happened to be nearby. “Grullarrk,” the soldier said clearly before falling to the ground. Forbes Zombie was fast. A hell of a lot faster than Forbes was in real life. How the heck did that work out, Boone wondered. Oh well. He unslung his double-barreled reverse musket, an invention of Revere; the guy was good for something, thought Boone as he fired and turned his former commanding officer’s head into a floating cloud of red mist. He then flipped the release on his musket, spun the barrels so that the fired barrel faced back and the loaded faced forward, and he vaporized the downed soldier’s head as well just to be sure. He wasn’t about to let any zombies rise on his watch. “Everybody to the wall,” Fraser ordered. It seemed that Boone’s gunfire and the shrieking had alerted the remaining werewolves, who were apparently done feasting on the French and wanted to upgrade to a little English breakfast. “Zombies and werewolves,” whined Revere. “I sure hope no vampires show up.” “Vampires?” Boone countered. “What are you, a child? Vampires aren’t real.” “They’re not?” asked Revere. “No - vampires are just a myth. But dragons, dragons will fuck your shit up,” said George Washington. Author Bio: Pete Clark likes writing, animals, potato chips, and cheese. Midnight Riders is his first published novel, although he can also proudly say he finally finished Helix Crashing, the fantasy novel he has been working on for over a decade. In addition, he has written Across the Barren Landscape, a collection of linked Western short stories. He also writes plays, both dramatic and comedic. Rating: 4/5 Stars
Review: I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review. This is the second book in the Sweet Series by Bailey Ardisone that I have had the pleasure of both reading and reviewing. This was a pretty quick read despite having a few slow areas. Sweet Escape was filled to the brim with with action and fighting, there was so much that there is no way that Bailey Ardisone could have added anymore. The book also contained a hint of romance but it was countered with all of the adventur. I loved getting to know more about both sides and all about the different creatures that exist in the fae world.
I still had the same issues with the characters in this instalment as the first. Both of the main girls and main guys names were so similar that I was forever mixing them up. I also found it confusing when the characters nicknames were used because I kept thinking they were a new character. In saying that, I did enjoy the multiple POV's and I think that besides a few times that it became confusing, it flowed between the POV's rather smoothly. I did enjoy the romance between the different characters and I can't wait to see where their relationships lead.
I really do love the author's idea of switching the POV's, not only between characters but between worlds as well. Also it is a new take on Fae and their kingdoms. I will continue on with this series because it is original and interesting. Plus I need to know where these blossoming relationships will end up. I would recommend this book to those who love fantasy and those who love stories about the Fae.
Excerpt: ~Nari~ I pushed him back against the wall by his taut chest, never disconnecting my lips from his, and kissed him like I was starving for this one thing. Starving for him. And I so was. I couldn’t breathe, and I didn’t care. There was nothing else in this world but him and me, and I soaked it up like a dry sponge. He nipped my lip at the same time his hand savored the bare skin at the small of my back under my shirt. It sent a rush of blood to every nook and corner of my body, giving me a euphoric high. I pressed myself further against him, but it wasn’t enough. And I knew he felt the same when he slid his hands over my backside down to the inside of my thighs, picking me up off the ground. I instinctively wrapped my legs around his waist and let him lay me down along the cold, hard rock below. I wanted him. So badly, I wanted him. Desire pooled in my gut, just for him. And I could feel he wanted me just as badly. I grinned against his hot lips and suppressed a giggle—knowing the others were just an earshot away. Author Sara Daniell Interviews and Giveaway

Please welcome author Sara Daniell.  She will be attending the Queen City Indie Con that will be in Cincinnati, Ohio in October 2014.  I am so excited to have Sara as my first official guest for my series of posts for the convention.  Well lets get started.
Author Interview:
1. What is your first memory that comes to mind?
Wisconsin winters as a child and playing in the snow from the time the sun came up until it went down.
2. What song is "your song?" Why?
Radioactive by Imagine Dragons because it’s awesome.
3. What's been your favorite movie of all time? Why?
Avengers, because it’s awesome with all of its action, super heroes, and sarcasm. Oh and the part where the Hulk beats the snot out of Loki? Pure awesomeness.
4. What is your favorite food? What is your least favorite food?
Favorite food would be crab-stuffed mushrooms. My least favorite would be cottage cheese. Ew.
5. If you could invite any 5 people to dinner, who would they be?
This is a hard question. I love so many people but if I could only choose 5 it would be, my husband, my dad, my older brother, my grandpa who passed away several years ago, and my Aunt Gloria.
6. If you were a super hero, what power would you have and what would your name be?
Teleportation and my name would be. . . Dorito. (I was eating Doritos. Hahaha.)
7. What inspired you to become a writer? Have you always wanted to be a writer?
I’ve always LOVED to write. But, honestly, I never thought I’d publish anything. I guess I was scared. So, I haven’t always wanted to be a “writer” per say. It took a close friend of mine telling me to go for it, to be a “public” writer. So, six published books later, here I am.
8. Which of your books is your favorite and why?
One that’s not published yet. It’s a New Adult ficton. No magic. Just normal people with a hell of a story. I’m not even sure if I’ll ever publish it. We’ll see. The reason it’s my favorite is because of the emotion and research it took to write it. I pour my heart and soul into everything I write but this book in particular. . . there was just something different about the emotion I put into this book. Maybe that’s why I’m so iffy on publishing it?
But out of the books I do have published, it would be The Dwellers series. And it would be because of Plath. He has by far been one of my favorite characters to write, aside from Cohen.
9. Do you have anything in the works right now?
Daughter of a Monarch: The Story of Princess Aislin Denton. This is the story of Luke and Holly’s daughter from The Holly Nather Trilogy.
10.What is the best advice anyone has ever given you?
Be you.
11.Do you have any hidden talents, if so what is one of them?
I can pick up things with my toes.
12.Do you have a favorite author? If so, who and why?
I have so many favorite authors, and now being published, I’ve met so many more amazing authors that have become favorites. I can’t just list one
Amanda Hocking
Katie Jennings
J.L. Hackett
Molly McAdams
Kerri L. Bennett
Bonnie Lamer
J.K. Rowling
Stephen King
Veronica Roth
Suzanne Collins
Just to name a few. . .lol
13.What would you do if you were the last person on earth?
Ummm, anything I wanted. But I’d be really lonely while doing anything I wanted. lol
14.If you could have one wish granted, what would you wish for?
Okay, this is going to sound like I’m running for Miss America, but it’s truly what I’d wish for. People to be nice to people all the time.
15.What is the craziest thing you have done?
The craziest thing I’ve done is also the best thing I’ve done. I got married right out of high school. We graduated in May, got married in June. Crazy, I know. But 10 years later and he’s still my best friend, and I still get butterflies when he’s around. A love like ours is rare and I’m so thankful I’m lucky enough to get to experience a love and friendship like ours. Wow, I just got really cheesy there. Oh well, it’s the truth.
That is not cheesy at all Sara.  I think it sounds like a great idea for a book.  LOL
Now for the character interviews.  First we have Orion from The Dwellers Series.  BTW I love this series.

(If The Dwellers were made into a movie, Sara would like Teresa Palmer to play Orion)

1. What is your name?
Orion Draper
2. Where do you live?
Right now I live at the Constable headquarters.
3. Where did you grow up?
Dandux.
4. What is your job title, social station/rank? How do you feel about it?
I’m Vesper #5. I can compel people to do whatever I want them to. I don’t know how I feel about it. It’s all still so new to me and confusing as hell.
5. What is currently your biggest responsibility/commitment?
I’m not sure how to answer that.
6. What is your current relationship status?
Definitely don’t know how to answer that. Too complicated for even me to understand.
7. Who is your best friend?
No one. I have no one.
8. Do you have any fears/phobias?
Living in this hell forever.
9. What do you dislike most about your life?
Right now, everything. Maybe things will get better.
10. Are you politically active?
Ummm, I guess you could say I am. I’m trying to figure out a way to find a way to right all the wrong going on in the Sphere right now. Does that count as being politically active?
11.What belief/person/institution would you die to protect?
I’m not sure anymore.
12.Who has hurt you the worst in your life, and how?
Too many to list, but if I have to name one in particular, it’d be Plath. And he keeps disappointing me, and I keep letting him. You would think I would have learned by now.
13.What secret would you feel most vulnerable revealing?
That no matter what, I’ll always love him. He could do anything, and I still would. And I hate myself for being this stupid. Especially, in a time like this. Everything is so messed up right now. There’s no time for love in the world I live in.
14.Tell me something no one knows about you.
I love junior mints. You know, those chocolate covered mint things? If I miss anything about Earth it’s that candy.
15.What has been the most defining moment in your life?
If I said I’d be saying too much. I’m sorry, I can’t reveal something like that.
Thank you Orion for taking the time to talk with me.
Now welcome Plath.  (Between me and you, he is yummy)

(If The Dweller Series were made into a movie Sara would like Kellan Lutz to play Plath)

1. What is your name?
Plath Emmerson.
2. Where do you live?
Here and there.
3. Where did you grow up?
Here and there.
4. What is your job title, social station/rank? How do you feel about it?
That is confidential. I can’t speak of my title/rank. I can tell you that I don’t like it, but I don’t have a choice. This is who I am.
5. What is your current relationship status?
So. Damn. Complicated. . . Non-existent. Who really knows? I screwed up and did on purpose. Every single time I hurt her, I know EXACTLY what I’m doing. Maybe I’m not meant to love. Love. . . I can’t believe I just said that out loud. Pretend like you didn’t hear that. Next question please.
6. Have you ever mislead, or intentionally lied to someone to get what you wanted?
All of the time. It’s who I am. It’s my job.
7. What adjective would you use to describe yourself?
Ruthless.
8. What secret would you feel most vulnerable revealing?
Who Orion really is. Not even she knows it. I want to tell her, but I don’t know how. She doesn’t trust me, and I don’t blame her. And explaining it would take a while, and I doubt she’d give me thirty seconds of her time. I know you’re wanting me to tell you who she really is, but I can’t. It’s not right when Orion doesn’t even know. Sorry, but I can’t fully answer this question.
9. What is your driving force/motivation in your life?
That’s easy. It is Orion. As cliché as it sounds, it really is all about her. Everything. There was no driving force or motivation in my life until I met her. I was just the ruthless son-of-a-bitch I was trained to be. When I met her, I felt a feeling that was so foreign to me. Compassion. Love. She motivates me to be good, but I’m not sure that I ever will be.
10. How do you feel about Orion?
Isn’t it obvious?
11. What do you dislike most about your life? What do you feel is missing?
The answer to the first and second questions is: everything.
12. Do you consider yourself a moral/ethical person?
Depends on the situation.
13. What belief/person/ institution would you die to protect?
Orion.
14. Tell me something no one knows about you.
I have to sleep with two pillows and that’s as deep as I’m getting with my secrets.
15. What has been the most defining moment in your life?
The most defining moment of my life was the worst moment of my life. I’m not ready to talk about it yet.
Thank you Plath for taking the time to talk with me.  ( He is just so yummy, shh!)

If you enjoyed this interview, please check out The Dweller's Series.  I absolutely love it!
Glimpse (The Dwellers 1)
Orion Draper is not your typical Dweller. She is a non-conformist with an insatiable appetite for adventure. And trouble. So it is no surprise when she finds herself eavesdropping on a Constable meeting. One word that makes no sense, "Earth", sends Orion on a quest for answers.

What is this "Earth"? And why has it never been mentioned before? Her search is soon over, but not without a heavy price to pay. Forced to leave behind the only home she has ever known, Orion fights for the chance to return. Every corner holds a new danger, and every shadow hides a secret. No one can be trusted, and no town is permanent.

Will Orion ever return to Dandux? Or is she forever condemned to repeat this hell she now knows?
My Opinion:
I really love Glimpse.  Orion is spunky, and kicks butt!  Then you have Plath, sigh!  He is just yummy and a bad boy that needs tamed.  Oh sorry, besides Plath, the story is filled with action and keeps you wanting more. It has been a while since I read it and I am thinking I need to read it again!
Sway (The Dwellers 2)
I’m shivering uncontrollably in a corner of a large gray room. I am engulfed in an all-consuming cloud of fear and anxiety. Every movement I make is jittery and awkward. I close my eyes and open them again, trying to get them to focus. Nothing is staying still and I don't know if it's just me going crazy or if everything is actually spinning and changing shape. I shift my eyes to the lights, wondering why they keep going on and off. Or maybe they're not. I place my head in my shaking hands and close my eyes. In exactly sixty seconds I will black out again. I am not sure what day or what time it is. 29, 28, 27…All my days have consisted of is counting down the seconds until I will be submerged in complete darkness again.

The Holly Nather Trilogy (Holly Nather 1-3)
Holly is just your typical college student. She goes to classes during the day and spends her nights either hanging out with friends or wasting an embarrassing amount of time on social networking. Her life is ordinary, nothing interesting or extravagant. That is - until she meets Luke. This enigmatic and on-the-verge-of-stalker guy brings excitement into her dull, routine life, introducing her to a world outside of her own...A world of magic...A world called Terre. As the saying goes: "With knowledge comes power" and with power comes danger. Holly is quickly and unexpectedly throw into a life of chaos, a life that she believed to only exist in science fiction films. Visions of this day have finally come into play, secrets have been told, and choices must be made.

(This e-book includes All 3 books in the trilogy, plus Brody's Short Story & Luke's Vision Journal.)
My Opinion:
This trilogy did not disappoint, it was fast paced and kept me guessing until the end. Sara had me crying, laughing and cursing throughout the series. I loved the romance and friendships. I am still speechless. Great series!
In Another Life: Cohen's Tale (Holly Nather 3.5)
*This should be read after the first 3 books in the series*
I stop painting for a moment and covertly look in her direction. She’s reading a book and is so enthralled by the words, that she hasn’t moved a muscle for over an hour. I smile inwardly as I take in how beautiful she is. Her dark hair falls perfectly across her cheek bones, blowing slightly in the breeze. It doesn’t make sense how a girl can affect me like she does. Just being near her is intoxicating. I hide it well, though. If she knew she gets to me the way she does, it would complicate things. I quickly push my thoughts aside and start painting again before she catches me staring at her.
